The Sun Lakes Democratic Club meeting will be held Monday, June 11, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, located at 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N.

The speakers will be Kathy Hoffman, Candidate for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Brittany MacPherson, The #Fight4HER campaign.

Our June meeting will provide an opportunity to meet candidates running for the Democratic nomination of their office in the August primary, along with hearing more about The #Fight4HER movement.

Kathy Hoffman is running for the Democratic nomination for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction. A speech therapist in the Peoria Unified School District, Kathy received her master’s degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Arizona. She supported the RedforEd movement and believes in our public education system.

The #Fight4HER movement will be presented by Brittany MacPherson. This movement is focused on mobilizing action against Trump’s Global Gag Rule and in support of the bill to block it, the Global Health, Empowerment, and Rights (HER) Act. This effort is to increase access to international family planning programs to ensure every woman, girl and person can make their own health care decisions without exception.

The Sun Lakes Democratic Club collects non-perishable food items for Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Please bring your tax-deductible contributions to the drop off area in the west parking lot from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ask for a receipt. The club donated 74 pounds of food and $42.00 cash for April. The totals for 2018, so far, are 318 pounds of food and $157.00 cash. We appreciate all you do.

All are welcome. Light refreshments are served. For more information, call Dolly Loftin at 480-200-3322.
