Community Church of SunBird Operation Christmas Child

The holiday season is filled with excitement from pumpkin spiced lattes, glittering Christmas lights, and snow-covered trees, to the return of our friends and family to the valley. Unlike the rest of the country, here in Arizona, the only shoveling we do is to replace our divots on the golf course. And with this warmer winter weather, Arizonians can also enjoy serving others through community outreach.

We are always on the lookout for new ways to help in our community. Some of the outreach programs that we support include Global Training Network, CIRA Mission, Hospice of the Valley, Downtown Urban Community Kids, Salvation Army Homeless, Hamilton High School Homeless Students, Chandler Food Bank, Latin American Church in Chandler, Neighbors Who Care, and SunBird Helping SunBird. Our current outreach program is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to fill 200 pre-ordered Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes for boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14.

The Community Church of SunBird is encouraging its members and anyone else in the community who would like to participate to gather shoebox items and bring them to a Sunday Service in the ballroom by Nov. 10. More information on what to pack in the boxes can be found at samaritanspurse.org/occ.

We hope you have an exciting and wonder-filled holiday season. Please come and join us Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. in the ballroom for a non-denominational, inspiring message from one of our gifted pastors. See you there!
