Community Church of SunBird features Paster David Walker for the month of June

The Community Church of SunBird became a 501(c)(3) non-profit church in 2018. We are excited to be operating under this new structure! One of the benefits of the 501(c)(3) is that we are now able to receive larger donation gift amounts. We were blessed in 2018 by a very generous couple who provided us with a large gift. We were able to purchase a set of Schulmerich Bells. Again this year, they provided us with another large gift that allowed us to purchase a set of Schulmerich Chimes to go with the bells. We are truly grateful and extremely blessed by their generosity. The bells and chimes, directed by Kim Hanson, join our multi-talented choir, directed by Pat Miller, to truly bless our worship services with glorious music and voices.

The Community Church of SunBird has a unique offering of messages each week. We are blessed with six outstanding pastors who rotate Sundays throughout the year. Our featured pastor for June is David Walker. He is currently a chaplain with Hospice of the Valley where he has served for the last 13 years. He is also our “on-call” pastor for baptisms, memorial services and pastoral prayer.

David and his lovely wife Diane have been married for 40 years. David and Diane live just north of Florence, along with their rescue dog Gracie. They have a married daughter and a two-year-old grandson.

David was born in Gary, Indiana, the fourth of five children. He grew up just outside of Gary in the small town of Hobart. He graduated with a Master of Divinity from Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Illinois, after a “heart to heart” with God during his junior year. His career found him in campus ministry at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; youth ministry in Terre Haute, Indiana; a preaching ministry in Phoenix; and as an Associate Staff Minister in Christian Growth at Compass Christian Church in Chandler.

David loves encouraging people to trust the Lord and His Word through every blessing and every challenge of life. He encourages us to take our relationship with the Lord seriously every day. He loves the Community Church of SunBird where people from a variety of church backgrounds love coming together in worship. His motto: “Be a blessing to someone today!”

Come and join us at the Community Church of SunBird. See you there!
