November 29 was our first activity for the 2015/2016 season, Canada’s (CFL) 103rd Grey Cup; 111 people assembled in the SunBird Ballroom to watch the game between Ottawa and Edmonton. It looked for a while that the eastern team, the RedBlacks, would take the Cup but that wasn’t to be as the Eskimos came through and won with a final score of 26-20. Interesting fact, we had our usual Grey Cup pool and all five winners were women. Way to go, Ladies, you know how to pick the squares. We had a nice half time meal consisting of hamburgers, homemade coleslaw and condiments with our usual Canada cake for dessert. Thanks to all who attended and especially to our volunteers who make these events so successful.

Mark your calendars for the following events:

February 11 – Canadian Barbecue

March 13 – Canadian Golf Tournament. Watch for more information closer to the event.

As you are probably aware the SunBird Canadian Club is a not-for-profit entity so surplus funds are donated back to the SunBird community. We were able to donate back to the community $2652. The following were the recipients of these funds: Kare Bears Golf Tournament, Sunbird Golf Course, stone for bridge at Hole No. 9, SunBird Golf Club protective nets and golf club washer for driving range and HOA patio tables and chairs.
