Buzz from the SunBird Tennis Club

The summer tennis season is over, and the Ladies’ Riggs Road program stole the show at the courts. Not one rain out, but players did have to battle hot summer temperatures. Riggs Road was very well attended with at least 30 participants playing competitive tennis. Players came from Cottonwood, Oakwood, Springfield and Sun Lakes. Fun was had by all with plenty of laughs. The league finished up by having a lovely luncheon hosted by Toni Reider at her house. Winners this year were Lani Becker taking first place, Sun McCloud taking second place and Teri Bitler in third. Toni generously made sure everyone got a prize. Congratulations to the winners. A great big thank you to all the players and subs who helped make this another successful season of a longtime tradition started by Ray White.

Unfortunately, the Tennis Club will not be hosting the Carnival of Games or a tournament at the tennis courts. The way the courts have been painted would discourage anyone from playing. We apologize to the Lions Club, but perhaps the following year we can start up again.

The fall season is underway, but the Tennis Club had to disband many activities due to the new ruling by the HOA. We will try to piece together as many activities as we can.
