Beginning now: Computer Booters

Kc Coller, Publicity Director

Hail, hail many of the members have returned to begin their winter in Arizona with us. They will be able to secure front row seating at the September 6 Computer Booters meeting.

As you know there have been many changes in technology these last few months:

Verizon has purchased Yahoo

Drones are taking pictures in our neighborhoods

There are driverless golf carts (wonder if they can hear and see)

Kindles are now thinner/lighter and at a reasonable price

Some changes still embrace a few strong issues like security, privacy and safety.

The club is geared up and focused on enlightening members of many of these new and even old issues. There already are knowledgeable speakers scheduled for each meeting to inform us about the concerns and delights of these matters.

The safety and privacy issue will be discussed by William Tully, Senior Manager of Security for Orbital Science Corp. which develops and manufactures small and medium class rockets and space systems for commercial, military and civil government customers. He’ll talk about the safety and security of our satellites, launch vehicles and planetary exploration spacecraft for communications and more. Having that front row seat to hear him will be a plus!

The fall season is filled with coming events pertaining to the interest of computing and announcements of the specifics will be forthcoming at the September meeting.

There will be information given about the three Open Houses of all the clubs active in our Sun Lakes communities. They will be a must see!

There will also be news and announcements about the 2016 APCUG International Technology Conference being held in Las Vegas, NV.

Again, a variety of classes will be available to those interested beginning October through April. There will be sign-up sheets at each meeting.

So put on your smile and join us September 6 at the Sun Lakes Country Club in the Navajo Room beginning at 7:00 p.m. Guests are always welcomed. You may also log into the club’s web site to see what’s happening; www.computerbooters.org.

Summer’s over and it’s time to get back to normalcy. Meeting with old friends and obtaining new thoughts can do that for you.

For those returning for the winter, welcome home.
