The German Club met on Tuesday, November 27, at 6:00 p.m. in the Lakeview Room. We went over the plans for the Christmas Dinner on Wednesday, December 12, at 6:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room. Our Treasurer Barb Valentine began collecting $15 per person for the meal. The dinner will be a salad, cordon bleu, potatoes, veggies and dessert. If you missed the meeting, please contact Barb Valentine to reserve a spot. Guests are welcome to attend at the same charge.

Following the meeting, we shared desserts with coffee and spoke of typical German Christmas traditions. We also viewed a video on European Christmas traditions in Britain, Norway, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.

Don’t forget to reserve your spot or spots for the Christmas Dinner!

Here are a few German Christmas expressions: Fruehe Weinachten – Merry Christmas, Gluckliches Neu Jahe – Happy New Year, der Wiehnachtsbaum (der Tannenbaum) – Christmas Tree, der Weihnachtsmann – Santa Claus, das Christkind – the Christ Child.
